MoveEarth is a Dating Site for the MoveThat/MoveFlat group of sites that I own. My name is Julian and I started a flatshare/rental property site called MoveFlat.com several years ago. Two years ago I started MoveThat.com which is a community site for London. Very shortly I will launch MoveBoss.com which will be a graduate job exchange for London.

You won't get on this site unless you are prepared to write a little bit about yourself.

How it works

You need to register (this is not a requirement on other Move_ sites.).

You need to reassure yourself that you are going to engage in good behaviour on the site. This is a requirement on all the Move_ sites, but MoveEarth is a young site in the group, and we are well-versed in what we have to do if you think that because MoveEarth is presently free, then you are free to disrespect the site or the people that use it.

We wish to make it clear here that we are not just talking about males.

You use your e-mail address to identify yourself, because it is unique to you, but your correspondance with anyone else occurs within the site and has nothing whatsoever to do with your e-mail address: you get an Inbox and a SentItems set up for you automatically, but these are nothing to do with your own e-mail address. You must visit the site to collect your mail, and you have to use the site to send it too.

You must say some thing about yourself more than "I'm looking." Otherwise your 'profile' won't display and if it doesn't display then people can't e-mail you.

You will be able to 'block' mail from anyone from whom you wish to receive no further mail , and they will not know that you have done this.

I hope it goes without saying that the same privacy rules apply here as the other sites: no passing of any data whatsoever. I think I'm going to say that if you haven't logged on for three months then all your data will get blitzed, but I'll be guided by youselves on this one

I'm going to make the point again for emphasis: 'free-of-charge' doesn't mean 'free-of-rules.' MoveEarth.com will be run in the same way as the other sites: If you wave a big flag saying "I'm an adult but this is the internet and anything goes here," you'll be posting elsewhere.

Personal Safety

I have some concerns that not enough is being made of this on internet sites......

If you are arranging a meeting with someone: they are a stranger.

Really, a lot of people are doing internet dating... but don't lose sight of the fact that internet sites by their nature are public.

Basically the message is that this site and nearly all dating sites are a public message boards, and not agencies.

You need to exercise the usual cautions when meeting strangers when using this or other sites, or indeed dating agencies: Always meet in a very public place, take friends with you, don't drink anything you have lost sight of or haven't seen being bought, and above all ... don't throw caution to the wind because he or she is the best thing that has come along in some time: on one front this is inviting eventual rejection, on another it is inviting a truly compromising situation: It is ALWAYS better to postpone judgement, because if the other person can't wait, then they don't respect you enough. We've all had times when we don't give a damn whether they respect us or they don't, but don't let your biology cloud your judgement when you just want to have fun
